Highest reliability and performance in production environments benefitting from compatibility with both the CA-400 series and CA-310

Working together with long-standing CA-series customers, the CA-500 series delivers improved reliability for a wider range of measurement targets and applications.

Like its predecessor, the CA-500 series is optimized for integration; probes can be connected directly to a computer for a more compact installation. Measurement sensors feature a motorized zero-point calibration shutter for automatic remote support.

The CA-500 series maintains compatibility with both the CA-400 series and the CA-310. The same basic commands are used in the new software development kit and the new probes use the same threads as the previous generation to fit any existing jig or integration, making the process of upgrading as seamless as possible.

*1: Measured under Konica Minolta’s standard light source (6,500 K).

*2: Luminance for monochrome is measured when reading of luminance for white is 100 cd/m2.

    *3: Temperature 23°C/± 2°C, relative humidity 40 % ± 10 %

*4: In NTSC [DOUBLE FRAME] synchronization mode using USB with one probe. Measured using a Konica Minolta-designated PC (with PC and probe directly connected, using the supplied measurement software).

    *5: Reading fluctuation (compared to reference reading at 23°C, 40 % RH): Luminance: ± 2% for white; Chromaticity (at 100 cd/m2): ± 0.002 for white, ± 0.003 for monochrome

*6: “Flicker” and “XYZ” are mode names for PC Software CA-S40.

*7: Measured under Konica Minolta's standard light source (constant light). If the luminance momentarily greatly exceeds the upper limit, such as with a PWM light source with a small duty cycle, luminances below the upper limit may be shown as too high.

*8: The listed values are for use with CA-S40 or CA-SDK2.

Features

Improves upon the industry benchmark CA-400 Series
Innovating alongside our partners at the cutting edge of display technology, the CA-500 series has been developed to facilitate characterisation of an even greater range of luminance and colour gamut. The CA-500 series is an upgraded measurement solution for companies developing, manufacturing, calibrating, and repairing next generation display technology.

Greatly increased accuracy guaranteed measurement range
The CA-500 series surpasses even the high sensitivity version of its predecessors (incl. CA-VP427) with double the accuracy-guaranteed measurement range for high luminance measurement and in even darker low luminance regions. This ensures the ability to measure improved contrast ratio and colour reproduction for next generation technology and demanding products such as outdoor visible displays.

Improved takt times with faster measurements
Measurement of low luminance can be a bottleneck with current generation systems. The CA-500 series features an improved optical design that can complete low luminance measurements around five times faster than its predecessor, delivering a significant performance and efficiency boost to production and development applications.

High sample rate capture of emission waveforms
The CA-500 series utilises a higher sampling rate to ensure more accurate measurement of emission waveforms at low luminances when measuring higher contrast OLED displays and dynamic drive micro-LEDs.

‘Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) flicker’ measurement
Complimenting the flicker measurement functions utilised in the previous generation (JEITA, VESA and FMA), the CA-500 series includes a new VRR flicker measurement index to ensure industry leading flicker measurement performance.

Flicker measurement of VRR displays

Measuring flicker in variable refresh rate (VRR) displays presents unique challenges due to fluctuating refresh cycles, making traditional measurement methods unreliable. Issues such as synchronization difficulties, dynamic refresh variability, and limitations of existing flicker meters complicate accurate assessment.

The Konica Minolta CA-527 accurately measures flicker on VRR displays by using high-speed sampling and synchronization to track fluctuating refresh rates. The device supports variable exposure settings, dynamically tracks refresh rate changes, and provides comprehensive flicker metrics (JEITA, VESA, ISO).
